BATLA HOUSE ENCOUNTER: INSPECTOR MC SHARMA MARTYRED; CONGRESS LEADERS CALL IT FAKE
Delhi Police Special Cell Neutralizes 2 IM Terrorists; Political Hypocrisy Sparks Outrage
On 19 September 2008, Delhi Police Special Cell raided L-18 Batla House in Jamia Nagar, hunting the Indian Mujahideen terrorists behind the Delhi serial blasts. Brave Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma was martyred in the fierce gunbattle.
Two IM terrorists (Atif Ameen and Mohd Sajid) were killed. Immediately afterward, senior Congress leaders like Digvijaya Singh publicly branded the encounter "fake" and demanded judicial trials for the police officers.
Salman Khurshid notoriously claimed during the 2012 UP elections that Congress President Sonia Gandhi "wept profusely" upon seeing photographs of the killed terrorists.
