IM Bombs Explode During Laser Show & Busy Eatery; 19 Unexploded Bombs Defused Across City
On Saturday evening, 25 August 2007, two powerful IEDs packed with steel ball bearings exploded within minutes of each other at Lumbini Park open-air laser auditorium (filled with families and children) and the iconic Gokul Chaat eatery in Koti.
44 innocent civilians were killed and over 50 injured. A third unexploded bomb with a timer was discovered under a chair in the laser auditorium minutes later.
Investigations exposed the operational presence of Indian Mujahideen modules operating across southern India with impunity.
