8 ARMY JAWANS MARTYRED IN HYDERPORA CONVOY AMBUSH ON EVE OF PM VISIT
Hizbul & LeT Terrorists Spray Unarmed Army Convoy on Bypass Highway in Srinagar
On 24 June 2013, just 24 hours before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi were scheduled to arrive in Srinagar, two terrorists ambushed an unarmed Indian Army supply convoy of 35 Rashtriya Rifles on the Hyderpora bypass highway.
Eight brave soldiers were killed and 19 grievously wounded as the militants sprayed automatic fire into military buses before speeding away on motorcycles.
The brazen daytime attack on the main national highway exposed glaring intelligence blindspots and convoy protection deficiencies.
