VALLEY-WIDE "INTIFADA" EXPLODES: 112 YOUTHS DIE IN ROLLING MOB-CLASH CYCLES
Hurriyat Issues Weekly "Protest & Strike Calendars"; Schools, Tourism & Commerce Crippled
On 11 June 2010, following the tragic death of student Tufail Mattoo during police teargas dispersal near Rajouri Kadal, hardline separatist leader Masarat Alam launched "Quit Kashmir Movement" with weekly protest calendars.
Violent clashes swept through Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Kupwara for four straight months. Government buildings and railway stations were set on fire, while 112 youths lost their lives in continuous riot-containment cycles.
The central government failed to provide non-lethal riot control equipment or dismantle the separatist propaganda machinery.
