Motorcycle IED Detonates as Workers Gather for Karnataka Assembly Election Filing
On the morning of 17 April 2013, a high-intensity IED planted on a parked motorbike exploded right outside the state headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Malleshwaram, Bangalore.
The blast injured 16 people, including 11 policemen guarding the premises and 2 teenage girls, damaging nearby homes and blowing out car windows across the neighborhood.
Investigations by the NIA revealed the attack was orchestrated by Al-Ummah operatives aiming to assassinate political leaders ahead of state assembly elections.
