Terrorists Carry AK-47s in Cricket Kit Bags; Storm Camp Beside School Ground in Srinagar
On 13 March 2013, two Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba fidayeen disguised as cricketers entered a school playground adjoining the 73rd Battalion CRPF camp in Bemina, Srinagar, carrying automatic assault rifles and grenades inside sports kit bags.
They opened fire and lobbed grenades at CRPF personnel on security duty, martyring five brave jawans before being neutralized in a close-quarters firefight.
The attack highlighted the persistent terror infrastructure operating with impunity across the Line of Control into urban centers of the valley.
