Suitcase IEDs Explode on Delhi-Attari Peace Train; Bogies Engulfed in Flames Near Diwana
On the midnight of 18 February 2007, two improvised explosive devices concealed in suitcases detonated inside the Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express near Diwana station in Panipat.
The explosions sparked intense fires inside two unreserved coaches, trapping sleeping passengers behind locked emergency windows and incinerating 68 innocent civilians.
The tragedy exposed gross security negligence along international railway lines and lack of basic onboard fire-suppression equipment.
