CBI ARRESTS FORMER TELECOM MINISTER A. RAJA & 2 TOP AIDES IN 2G SCAM
Former Cabinet Minister Sent to Tihar Jail in ₹1.76 Lakh Crore Spectrum Allocation Case
On 3 February 2011, the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested former Union Telecom Minister A. Raja along with former Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura and private secretary RK Chandolia for their criminal role in orchestrating the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
The arrests followed months of political resistance by the UPA government, which had defended Raja in Parliament and stonewalled demands for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
The CBI chargesheet documented how official cut-off dates and first-come-first-served rules were illegally manipulated to benefit ineligible front companies.
